Department Mission

Preserve the human animal bond to prevent animal homelessness, and to assist lost pets in finding their way home, or seek new homes by providing education and resources to our customers as well as monitoring animal resources ordinances, as we achieve a 95% live outcome rate for sheltered pets.

Department Goals

Maintain a 95% or greater live outcome percentage for intaked animals.
Maximize efforts to reunite pets with their owners.
Ensure that pet owners have opportunities to sterilize their animals at little to no cost and that almost all animals adopted from the Austin Animal Center are spayed/neutered upon adoption.
