Department Mission

Austin Facilities Management (AFM) delivers planning, management, maintenance, custodial, and security services to ensure City facilities are reliable, efficient, and sustainable. AFM also manages city-wide mail services and covers many administrative facility costs.

Department Goals

Improve the condition of BSD-operated facilities by addressing the backlog of deferred facility maintenance.
Increase the Energy Star score across the portfolio of BSD-operated facilities through operational and facility improvements.
Improve customer satisfaction with facilities, facilities management, and services.
Reduce the frequency of unplanned outages by directing resources to planned and preventative maintenance activities.
Align the operating costs of BSD-operated facilities with industry standards.

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Percent of all City Buildings eligible for an ENERGY STAR score with a score greater than 75
  2. Percent of completed scheduled maintenance versus the total completed maintenance (scheduled + unscheduled)
  3. Percent of customers satisfied with facility services
  4. Percentage of facilities rated as "Fair or Good" in the Facilities Condition Index
