Department Mission

Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) provides services that help keep Austin clean and sustainable by collecting trash, recycling, compost, and bulk items from more than 225,000 customers. The department also provides litter abatement, landfill remediation, and waste diversion opportunities to over 468,000 households citywide. ARR is working toward the City's goal of Zero Waste by 2040 and provides programs that promote waste reduction, improve resource recovery, and support the City's sustainability efforts.
