Use this search to find documents containing the keyword(s) you enter. Searches are not case sensitive. See examples below to optimize results:
Default Search - Free type
Parking ordinance → Finds documents containing variations of the phrase, such as parking ordinance, parking ordinances, or Park Ordinance anywhere in the content, without requiring exact matching.
Exact Phrase Search - Use quotation marks ("")
"parking ordinance" → Finds only documents that contain the exact phrase "parking ordinance" without variations. Add the phrase between quotation marks.
Find All Words - Use AND
parking AND ordinance AND Mopac → Finds only documents that contain all three words (parking, ordinance, and Mopac) somewhere in the content, even if they are not together. Use AND between the words.
Exclude Words - Use AND NOT
parking AND ordinance AND NOT Congress → Finds only documents that contain both parking and ordinance but exclude any document that contains Congress. Use AND NOT to exclude words.
Spelling Wildcard - Use asterisk (*)
parking AND ordinance AND m*nchaca → Finds documents that contain parking and ordinance as well as words that match the wildcard pattern, such as Manchaca or Menchaca. Use the asterisk to represent an unknown letter.
Sort Order
Use this field to sort the result documents in either most recent document first or Oldest document first. By default, search results are listed most recent first.
Council Approved Documents
Search Tip: Limit your search by selecting only the document types you want.
Affidavit of Publication Proof of publication that an ordinance was printed in the local newspaper as required by State law. It often includes a clipping of the actual notice as it appeared in the paper.
Affidavit of Publication/PID A legally binding statement, sworn and notarized, that attests to the fact that a notice, advertisement, or other content was published in a newspaper or other publication.
Agenda Provides a list of the matters to be discussed or voted on during a meeting. It is published before each Council meeting.
Agenda Addendum Items added to an agenda after it is initially published.
Agenda Backup Supporting documents prepared by staff or outside consultants that are given to Council members regarding matters discussed or voted on during a meeting. May include Recommendations for Council Action (RCA), drafts of proposed Resolutions or Ordinances, e-mails, reports, and other supporting documentation.
Agenda Changes and Corrections Reflects changes made to a published Agenda. The document will be read into the record at each Council meeting.
Agenda Late Backup Supporting documents presented just before or during a Council meeting.
Agenda Questions and Answers Staff responses to questions raised by the Council after they have reviewed the backup material for the items on an agenda.
Contract Cover Sheet Identifies the vendor, the goods purchased, the term of a contract or agreement approved by the City Council and contact information for a key staff member.
Meeting Minutes A summary of the items considered, discussed, and voted on at each Council meeting, Council Corporation meeting, and Council Committee meeting. City Council may also call Special Meetings, Emergency Meetings, or Working Sessions as needed.
Ordinance A law that amends, repeals or supplements the Municipal Code, provides zoning specifications, or appropriates money for specific purposes.
Resolution A formal expression of a decision, opinion, policy or directive of the City, expressed in a document, and voted upon by the City Council.
Restrictive Covenant Defines limitations on the use of land and require Council approval. These restrictions are recorded in the deeds to real property and buyers agree to these limitations when they purchase the property.
Restrictive Covenant Amendment Records a change to the Restrictive Covenant and is approved by the City Council.
Restrictive Covenant Termination Is approved when the Council determines that limitations on the property are no longer needed.
Staff Response to Council Memorandums provided to City Council to inform on directives given to city staff.
Transcript Closed caption transcription of the meeting recorded.
Boards and Commissions Documents
Agenda Lists all matters to be discussed or voted on during a meeting.
Agenda Revised Reflects changes made to a published agenda.
Agenda Addendum Includes items added to an agenda after it is initially published.
Agenda Backup Supporting documents prepared by staff or outside consultants that are given to board members regarding matters discussed or voted on during a meeting.
Recommendation Provides details, explanations, and rationale for a decision on specific issue. Must be approved during posted meeting (an agenda item). Regarding items/topics currently on an agenda of Council or Council Committee.
Minutes A summary of the items considered, discussed, and voted on at each board and commission meeting.
Council Meetings Date Range
Use this field to limit a search to the documents associated with City Council meetings that occurred within a range of dates.
Enter a starting date and ending date to narrow your search results. A blank start date will default to the earliest date available, and a blank end date will default to today's date.
Agenda Item Number
Use this field to limit a search to the documents associated with one or more items on a council agenda.
How to Enter Items Numbers
Item numbers must be entered with leading zeroes so they are 3-digit numbers. For instance, item number "10" should be entered as "010" and "5" should be entered as "005."
Zoning documents must have an upper case "Z" inserted at the beginning of the item number (Example: Z025). Note there is no hyphen following the "Z".
Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) documents must have an upper case "AHFC" inserted at the beginning of the item number (Example: AHFC006). Note there is no hyphen following the "AHFC".
To Search for More Than One Item
Search for more than one item at a time by entering a list of item numbers separated by commas. For instance, to search for items 001 and Z018, enter "001, Z018".
The wildcard character (*) may also be used in this field to represent one or more characters. For instance, to search for items 001 through 009, enter "00*". To search for all zoning items, enter "Z*".
Municipal Election Document Type
Ballot Application is the form filed by a candidate to place their name on a municipal election ballot.
Contribution and Expenditure (C&E) Reports are used to record campaign contributions to and expenditures made by candidates for the office of Mayor or Council Member, current office holders, and political action committees (PACs). These reports must be filed at specific intervals throughout the year.
Campaign Treasurer Appointment form serves as notification of the appointment, change or termination of an office holder, candidate or political action committee's campaign treasurer.

Financial filing showing accepted contributions or made expenditures.
Monthly Filing General-Purpose Committee Campaign Finance Report
monthly filing by the 5th of each month to cover the previous month's activities.
Political Committee Affidavit of Dissolution
Filing by a political committee that expects to receive no further political contributions or make no further political expenditures.
Political Committee Special Pre-Election Report of Contributions
Required when a committee accepts contributions exceeding $2,150 from a single source or $32,280 for a group of candidates during the reporting period.
Political Committee Special Pre-Election Report of Direct Expenditures
required when a committee makes direct campaign expenditures exceeding $2,150 for a single candidate or $32,280 for a group of candidates during the reporting period.
Pre-Election Report
Filed when accepting political contributions from a person that in the aggregate exceed $1,860 during the reporting period
Report of Covered Transfers Supporting Direct Campaign Expenditures
Discloses campaign contributions and expenditures that meet certain threshold requirements.

Expenditures made by any person in connection with a campaign for an elective office or on a measure that does not constitute a contribution
Specific-Purpose Committee Campaign Finance Report
Reports expenditures made and includes the amount, recipient, and purpose of the expenditure.
C&E Report Type
Candidates and political action committees (PACs) are required to file many types of financial reports. For example, candidates for municipal office are required to file Contribution and Expenditure (C&E) Reports 30 days and 8 days prior to each election. Use this field to limit a search to a particular type of report.
