Purpose: |

Under general supervision, this position performs various moderately complex engineering and technical tasks in support of the Airport Baggage Handling System (BHS) and supporting systems. This position exercises judgment within defined methods, procedures, and practices. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Provides skilled technical support for 24/7 real-time control system integrity and ensures the highest operational reliability and system availability.
- Assists with the daily operation and maintenance of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
- Leads the daily maintenance of the Airport BHS to accomplish the best performance; communicates with dispatchers, engineers, and field crews; and troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves problems as required.
- Conducts field inspections of Airport BHS.
- Coordinates and analyzes the real-time control system data; develops and implements enhancements or modifications requested in a timely manner; and communicates activity status to customers and management.
- Administers and monitors data security profiles and enforces security policies and procedures.
- Installs, configures, and tests electronic security systems including card access, intrusion detection, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) devices and systems.
- Researches and performs sample analysis.
- Develops, analyzes, and generates engineering reports.
- Supports efforts to keep up with the latest developments in the airport industry to comply with Federal, State, and Local regulations and Automation (ISA) standards and regulatory requirements.
- Writes technical and business documentation, including audit and training manuals.
- Updates, maintains, and documents security controls.
- Maintains stock and parts inventories and documentation for all systems.
- Configures and programs process control applications (Human Machine Interfaces), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |
|
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of PLC ladder logic programming.
- Knowledge of Siemens, GE Fanuc, or Allen Bradley integrated architecture.
- Skill in using computers and related software.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- Ability to work with Unix (TRU64 Unix preferred) and Windows-based systems.
- Ability to understand database design and application development.
- Ability to perform systems testing of specification requirements.
- Ability to understand and use standard application development design, report, and project management tools.
- Ability to effectively participate in multiple projects or project capacities.
- Ability to perform objective analyses and re-engineering of business processes to maximize quality service and cost-effectiveness.
- Ability to work after-hours on-call support to meet the response requirements for restoring mission critical systems.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Mathematics, plus two (2) years of experience in a field related to SCADA or process control.
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.

Licenses and Certifications Required: |

- Valid State of Texas Class “C” Driver License.
