Media Buyer and Marketing Coordinator

Purpose:
 

Under general direction, this position is responsible for placing and monitoring advertising and marketing purchases for public information and outreach projects. Coordinates related procurement processes including price negotiation, scope of work, key performance indicator development, and contract management.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Oversees advertising and marketing media buys.
  2. Coordinates and tracks asset creation, edits, approval, and delivery between staff and vendors.
  3. Negotiates terms and conditions of advertising sales contracts.
  4. Reviews and approves payment of invoices for contracted services for payment processing within payment and budget cycles.
  5. Organizes all logistics related to the timely placement of advertising and marketing content on the contracted channels, platforms, and venues.
  6. Reviews, approves, and reconciles accounts payable and accounts receivable activities for assigned programs.
  7. Develops, maintains, and monitors goals, objectives, added value, spending, and budgets for advertising and marketing programs.
  8. Identifies and monitors advertising opportunities, maintains vendor inventory information , and updated media kits.
  9. Develops and maintains relationships with media sales representatives to stay informed of latest advertising packages and opportunities.
  10. Coordinates production of marketing materials within budget and timelines.

  • Knowledge of marketing principles, techniques, methodologies, etc.
  • Knowledge of advertising principles, techniques, methodologies, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Skill in using computers and related software.

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with City employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Marketing, Business, or related field plus four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Related experience may substitute for education up to a maximum substitution of four (4) years.
