Purpose: |
|
Under general supervision, this position performs complex, skilled work in the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, and remodeling of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) facilities. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Performs all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair projects requiring complex work in carpentry, roofing, cabinetry, framing, and painting. Trains others in executing repair and construction projects.
- Performs basic plumbing installations and repairs.
- Assists in coordinating activities and ensuring availability of personnel, material, and equipment necessary to complete assigned construction projects. Performs various technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Provides input to management concerning time, workforce, equipment, and materials necessary perform AUS maintenance assignment and projects.
- Follows blueprints, specifications, and building codes to ensure assigned construction requests meet specifications and codes.
- Completes data entry for work-related functions in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Knowledge of proper safety practices, procedure and regulations.
- Skill in following and understanding blueprints.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- Skill in planning and organizing.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City employees and the public.
- Ability to maintain Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements authorizing unescorted access entry into Security Identification Display Area (SIDA).
- Ability to safely operate City vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to estimate time, materials, and costs of repairs.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
- Ability to work in a shift capacity that may rotate or adjust with little notice including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in general building or facility construction, including one (1) year of which was in the Aviation industry.
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.

Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
- Texas Class C Operator’s License or ability to obtain within ninety (90) calendar days of hire.
