Under general direction of the Director, this position assists the Director in planning, directing, and implementing the activities and operations of the Office of Budget & Organizational Excellence. |
| Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
| |
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Develops and enforces processes to support the advancement, implementation, and administration of the City’s strategic planning efforts.
- Submits reports and develops revision recommendations for the Citywide strategic plan.
- Designs, tests, evaluates, and scales projects in programs that generate evidence to inform strategy, enhance operations, improve the quality of life in Austin, and serve as models for other communities.
- Develop and manage a life-cycle process for test projects, to include design, deployment, testing, and performance evaluation.
- Serve as a consultant and facilitator for customer departments and partner organizations seeking to develop new solutions to civic challenges.
- Develop and implement the City’s performance and innovation work plan guided by the citywide strategic plan and executive management priorities
- Forge partnerships with Local community groups, companies, universities, and school systems that can support the research and development of innovative solutions.
- Provide leadership in the City’s continuous improvement, performance measurement initiatives, and innovation activities to coordinate with City budget planning efforts to drive efficiencies.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
| |
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, plus five (5) years of work experience that demonstrates organizational development, creative leadership, and change management skills including two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for non-supervisory/management experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
