Responsible for effective and efficient planning, construction, reliability, operations and maintenance of Austin Energy's (AE) electric service delivery infrastructure. |
| Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
| |
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Teamwork and relationship building:
- Works within a team environment to develop and implement executive level policy and procedure, analyze business needs, and develop short- and long-range strategies, goals, and action plans to meet those needs.
- Conducts negotiated decision-making to blend specific expertise into overall organizational objectives.
- Provides a professional example inclusive of diverse opinions and points of view.
- Business and financial management:
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of financial and accounting systems used in the public electric utility industry.
- Develops and manages assigned Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Capital Improvement (CIP) budgets.
- Recommends and, as applicable, approves major purchases and expenditures.
- Strategic planning and coordination:
- Conducts long-range planning in relation to the electric service delivery business unit and overall utility business implications.
- Coordinates implementation of new technologies as applicable based on development of solid business case applications.
- Management & leadership:
- Identifies and matches requirements and resources.
- Establishes and executes objectives and implementation plans.
- Establishes processes, procedures, and controls.
- Complies with safety and environmental requirements.
- Provides personnel development and mentorship.
- Technical credibility and experience:
- Demonstrates knowledge of transmission, distribution, and associated operations and communicate a high level of technical credibility to subordinates and peers.
- Provides written and oral technical presentations to internal and external audiences to include City Management, City Council, public organizations, boards, commissions, and regulatory agencies.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
| |
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering, Business or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years of related electric utility experience, five (5) years of which were in a managerial or executive capacity.
- Masters degree may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
- Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
