Purpose: |

This position manages and promotes services and programs for the Animal Services Office. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Manages and coordinates day-to-day operations of assigned program area(s).
- Assists in the development of the annual budget and monitor expenditures/revenue in respective program area(s).
- Develops performance measures for assigned program area(s) and monitors progress toward goal.
- Serves on Animal Services Office’s management team.
- Provides leadership to resolve disputes and mediate complaints at the lowest possible level.
- Resolves customer complaints.
- Coordinates activities with other organizations, community groups, and citizens.
- Develops and writes policies for the Animal Services Office.
- Performs special projects.
- Contributes to the programs and services that support the shelter’s live outcome goal.

Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised: |

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws pertaining to animals.
- Knowledge of animal services and related programs.
- Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
- Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- Skill in resolving problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.
- Skill in using computers and related software applications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with City employees and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to respond to inquiries and prepare and present information.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
- Ability to train others.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of experience in a related field, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Any combination of education and experience may substitute.

Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
