| Purpose: |

Under general direction, this position supervises and coordinates the daily activities of personnel in support of the Crime Scene Unit of the Forensic Science Department. |
| Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
| |
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Participates in the development and implementation of new programs.
- Establishes, reviews, and interprets standard operating practice, policy, and procedure.
- Assists in establishing crime scene and evidence guidelines.
- Assists in reviewing and maintaining the laws regulating chain of custody and crime scene investigation to include latent prints.
- Assists in preparing budget and other planning documents.
- Performs bid processing and prepares purchase orders for supplies and/or equipment.
- Conducts needs assessments and new employee orientation.
- Establishes, writes, and provides training programs and policies for staff.
- Coordinates and implements assigned projects.
- Coordinates crime scene calls and ensures appropriate personnel response.
- Coordinates information for court cases with court officers, prosecutors, and judges.
- Assists other law enforcement agencies and City departments.
- Writes, drafts, and completes reports and/or documents.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
| |
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years’ experience performing relevant forensic casework at an accredited forensic laboratory..Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Graduation with an academic doctorate degree in a related field may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.

| Licenses and Certifications Required: |
| |
- Successful completion of at least one (1) year of approved proficiency testing.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
- Texas Forensic Science Commission Forensic Analyst License (per 37 Tex. Admin. code Chapter 651 to add Subchapter C and subchapter D, (4) must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
