Purpose: |
|
Under general direction, this position is responsible for the oversight, administration, and coordination of activities related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Responsible for supporting City Management, departments, and Citywide veterans initiatives. Responsible for educating stakeholders and overseeing compliance with Local, State, and Federal legislation related to the ADA. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Serves as in-house resource to departments, Council, and staff on all issues related to major area of administration (e.g. ADA)
- Acts as community liaison to city commissions.
- Monitors City compliance with City, State, and Federal laws by conducting audits, on-site visits, and surveys of all City departments.
- Develops and implements education and training programs to make City staff aware of and sensitive to issues in areas such as ADA.
- Is responsible for investigating citizen complaints.
- Studies existing and new employment legislation and Federal, State and Local Legal Requirements; ensures adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actions.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Resources, Business, or Public Administration, plus five (5) years of experience in Finance, Human Resources, Program Administration, Labor Relations, or Public Administration, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
