Airport Electrician Senior

Purpose:
 

Under general supervision, lead and perform tasks in repair, installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical equipment and circuits.

 
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Pull wire, conduit, cable, etc.
  2. Connect power cables to equipment, i.e. generators, alarm systems, lighting systems, etc.
  3. Use various electrician hand tools, i.e. snips, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, etc.
  4. Operate soldering tools
  5. Read profiles and blueprints.
  6. Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using rulers and hand tools
  7. Install wire, conduit, coaxial cable, etc. Install conductors
  8. Splice electrical wiring, i.e. strip insulation, twist wires together, solder, tape, apply terminal caps, etc.
  9. Operate various power saws, i.e. radial arm, skill, etc. Operate drills, buffers, grinders, sanders, etc. Operate electronic testing equipment. Operate cable finding equipment and equipment testers.
  10. Assist other trades with electrical problems.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  •  May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluations, training and guidance to others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of the City and National Electric Code
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures when working with energized electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of building codes applicable to level of construction
  • Knowledge of equipment tools and materials used in electrical maintenance and construction
  • Knowledge of City permitting process
  • Skill in the use of hand tools common to the electrical trade
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and schematics
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees, tenants and the general public
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years experience in repair, testing, maintenance or installation of electrical systems or equipment, one (1) year of which was in the Aviation Industry and in a lead capacity.
 
Licenses and Certifications Required:
 
  • Master Electrician License issued by the State of Texas
