Airport Facility Coordinator

Purpose:
 

Under general supervision, this position provides coordination of work, leadership, and guidance to staff that provides facility maintenance, security, emergency services, general and detailed cleaning and disinfecting services, and moving and arranging services for the airport terminal and campus.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Coordinates, leads, and assists staff conducting facility maintenance, security, emergency services, cleaning, and moving and arranging services.
  2. Acts as supervisor in absence of shift supervisor.
  3. Interacts with airport tenants, passengers, and other City of Austin departments on the behalf of the division.
  4. Develops and revises draft standard operating procedures for the division and implements once approved.
  5. Provides customer service by answering questions and providing information to all customers navigating and transitioning through the airport.
  6. Performs administrative duties and responsibilities including completing and approving forms, logs, timesheets, and leave requests.
  7. Stocks, orders, and replenishes supplies campus-wide; inspects and maintains equipment, vehicles and areas of the airport campus for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness.
  8. Communicates and coordinates work with divisional supervisors regarding events operational matters, resolves conflicts and difficult situations, evaluates personnel performance, and resolves other issues.
  9. Observes and enforces department and facility safety and operational policies and procedures.
  10. Works in conjunction with airport personnel and assigned staff to coordinate and ensure security and safety for airport facilities; coordinates evacuations and isolations of airport facilities when emergencies arise, e.g., security breaches, weather or fire emergencies, baggage handling system outages, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of airport janitorial processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations/mandates; City, departmental, State, and Local rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of FAA/TSA Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) regulations/requirements.
  • Knowledge of Airline Baggage Hygiene procedures.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others.
  • Skill in leadership.
  • Skill in using equipment and vehicles in airport services.
  • Skill in identifying suspicious and unusual activities.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to pass and maintain TSA/SIDA Security requirements.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and cleaning equipment/machinery and utilize computer software.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience related to janitorial services, including two (2) years of experience which were in the operation of janitorial heavy equipment and/or machinery.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
 

Valid Texas Class C Driver License within ninety (90) days of hire.
