Art in Public Places Manager

Purpose:
 

Manage all aspects of the Arts in Public Places Program. Provide supervision and direction for Arts in Public Places Program staff.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Plans projects and selects artist/art to be commissioned.
  2. Conducts pre-bid meetings and write request for purchases.
  3. Solicits appropriate approvals.
  4. Negotiates and ensures contract compliance and fees.
  5. Monitors project budget.
  6. Coordinates schedules for installation.
  7. Acts as liaison between artist and program participants, i.e., architects, engineers, etc.
  8. Revises policies and procedures.
  9. Conducts presentations and workshops.
  10. Provides public education/information through speaking engagements, brochures and publications, websites, etc.
  11. Performs supervisory duties including, hiring, promoting, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, etc.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods.
  • Knowledge of City practice, policy, and procedures.
  • Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with City employees and the public.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to train others.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Fine Arts, Arts Administration, Art History, or a related field; plus four (4) years of experience in administrating public art projects, gallery management, fine arts management, or other related/relevant work experience.
