Purpose: |

Working independently, this position manages daily operations and supervises staff of an Austin Public Library retail location. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Directs the operations of the retail location and staff.
- Develops and implements strategies to manage departmental inventory operations to include procurement, sourcing, and product development.
- Develops short- and long-term plans for a library facility.
- Manages the purchasing, marketing, displaying, and selling of merchandise.
- Oversees staff management of inventory investment which may include physical inventories, customer participation, and validation of items.
- Oversees maintenance, security, and physical condition of the retail location, ensuring overall cleanliness and proper working condition of the facility.
- Conducts meetings and trainings with staff to interpret and explain policies to public and staff.
- Coordinates with other libraries and organizations concerning resource sharing and coordination of services.
- Assists in development of budget and grant applications, which may include directing or monitoring work unit expenditures. Prepares operational and financial reports of operations.
- Represents the City of Austin and Austin Public Library to the public.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in retail management or a related field, plus four (4) years of relevant experience, including one (1) year of experience which was in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
- Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute up to two (2) years of experience.

Physical Requirements: |
|
- Must be able to stoop, bend, walk, and reach heights of up to six (6) feet.
- Must be able to lift or pull book bags and equipment up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to push loaded book cart/truck up to 300 pounds.
- Must have manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard.
