Clinical Service Line Coordinator

Purpose:
 

Under minimal direction, this position coordinates clinical activities and system performance of clinical service lines including care provided by providers and programs overseen by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Collaborates with executives, management, and project teams to determine issues and identify service line objectives, establish parameters for gathering information, and analyze results for a variety of City-wide or department-specific projects.
  2. Coordinates, facilitates, and develops programs, projects, and initiatives related to assigned clinical service lines.
  3. Collaborates in developing clinical guidelines and standards of patient care.
  4. Assists in the education, assessment, and credentialing of system providers.
  5. Coordinates and monitors performance and quality of clinical initiatives and care related to assigned clinical service lines.
  6. Develops and monitors mechanisms for system and provider performance as well as continuous quality improvement for assigned clinical service lines.
  7. Manages projects, data entry, and reporting requirements for related to assigned clinical service lines.
  8. Engages in clinical research and presentation of findings.
  9. Serves as a liaison and content expert to various City departments and stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of current concepts and best practices for patient care in the out of hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of in-hospital metrics closely related to out of hospital system performance.
  • Knowledge of current concepts, techniques, and principles in continuous quality improvement and performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of National, State, and registry reporting requirements for emergency medical services and assigned clinical service lines.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in designing and conducting clinical education.
  • Skill in data analysis and presentation of findings.
  • Skill in establishing clinical practice and standards.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports.
  • Ability to present clinical initiatives and communicate best practice.
  • Ability to manage clinical service line performance and quality improvement.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees, the public, and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, or a related health discipline, plus two (2) years of related clinical experience and two (2) years of coordinating system-level clinical performance and quality assurance activities.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
 
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
  • Texas Department of Health certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) or being eligible for reciprocity at that level, or Registered Nurse (RN) or being eligible for reciprocity at that level in the State of Texas.
