Purpose: |

Under limited supervision, this position oversees day-to-day operations, projects, and initiatives related to Austin Energy’s (AE) advanced technology programs. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Supervises personnel involved in electric utility advanced grid technology operations and projects.
- Provides technical leadership implementing and operating existing and new electric grid systems and technologies.
- Improves operations through the development and implementation of business processes focused on decreasing turnaround times, streamlining work procedures, and providing quality internal customer service.
- Trains existing and incoming staff on grid technologies, including work procedures and operating instructions.
- Leads cross functional teams to achieve utility advanced grid technology initiatives.
- Develops and prepares productivity reports and dashboards to be used by leadership.
- Assists in the preparation and oversight of capital projects and operating budgets.
- Assists with the development and execution of short- and long-range goals, and monitors performance toward those goals.
- Participates in the development of business cases, including cost versus benefit analysis and Request for Proposals (RFPs) to support related technologies, initiatives, and programs.
- Facilitates and leads periodic executive round table and steering committees on related technologies and programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |
|
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of electric utility grid applications.
- Knowledge of current information technology systems, operational technology, data systems, IT security, electric utility operations and practices.
- Knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices.
- Skill in conducting hardware and software evaluations, selection, and acquisition functions.
- Skill in organizing, delegating, and executing work effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to understand complex electrical engineering and IT/OT systems integration standards.
- Ability to develop, implement, and administer a budget, prepare budget requests, and monitor expenditures for budgetary compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret standard accounting and financial reports.
- Ability to conduct research, and analyze and interpret findings.
- Ability to compile data and prepare narrative and statistic backed opinions, reports, and presentations.
- Ability to assign and direct work activities.
- Ability to monitor program activities and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business or Engineering related to the job, plus three (3) years of experience in a related field, including two (2) years of experience which were in grid technology or electrical engineering.
- Experience may substitute for education for up to four (4) years.
