Purpose: |
|
Under general direction, this position serves as primary airport liaison for City Council; Local, State, and Federal government agencies; and community and stakeholder outreach. This position manages the communication and workflow between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and City Hall with regards to government initiatives. This position is responsible for supervising staff; managing programs; implementing management directives and City Council initiatives; and integrating community involvement. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Promotes AUS mission, policy, and initiatives before governmental agencies, organizations, and the community.
- Represents AUS interests and positions before governmental officials, boards, commissions, and community organizations.
- Serves as primary liaison and provides technical assistance to City Council.
- Participates in workshops, public hearings, stakeholder processes, and team meetings as an AUS representative.
- Provides leadership, insight, and concepts in public and community relation activities and stakeholder outreach.
- Researches and drafts documents for presentation and publication.
- Prepares status reports on City Council and other legislative, regulatory, or assigned projects; and provides regular briefings to executive management.
- Represents AUS before various formal and informal groups requesting information, including City Councils and officials of cities served by AUS and other governmental bodies, on AUS programs, policies, or processes.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Public Administration, Education, Law, or in a field related to the job, plus seven (7) years of experience in a field related to working with elected officials, including two (2) years of experience which were in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for non-lead or non-supervisory experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
