Computer-Aided Drafting and Design Engineering Technician

Purpose:
 

Provides drafting, mapping, design, 3D modeling, and presentation drawings
using computer-aided drafting and design, GIS and other graphics software for
use in a wide range of engineering projects.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1.Operate computerized drafting software
2.Assist in the development of technical reports
3.Provides quality control
4.Revises CADD deliverables, plans, documents, etc. from outside parties for
conformance with city CADD standards
5.Assists in the planning and design of engineering projects
6.Provide technical assistance
7.Design/maintain equipment
8.Perform mathematical calculations
9.Assist in the preparation of engineering specifications and plans
10.Research records
11.Review reports
12.Modifies CADD information for use in Facility Management (FM) system
13.Train new personnel on CADD system
14.Implement new system hardware/software
15.Maintain CADD standard specifications

  None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods.
Knowledge of city practice, policy, and procedures.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in using computers and related software applications.
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public.
Ability to train others.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus five (5) years of relevant work experience.
An Associate degree in Applied Science or a related engineering discipline may
substitute for two (2) years of the required work experience.

  None.
