Purpose: |

Under general supervision, perform skilled maintenance carpentry work in City-owned facilities. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Performs skilled Carpentry work in City-owned facilities.
- Operates and maintains various power and hand tools.
- Installs, repairs, rebuilds, fabricates, replaces City facility structures and amenities.
- Reads blueprints, specifications and building codes.
- Records data.
- Measures using appropriate instruments.
- Measures/mixes ingredients.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Knowledge of proper safety practices, procedure and regulations.
- Skill in reading and understanding blueprints.
- Skill in estimating time, costs, and materials.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City employees and the public.
- Ability to safely operate City vehicles and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two years of experience as a journeyman carpenter
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
|
Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
- Texas Class C Operator’s License or ability to obtain one within 90 calendar days of hire.
|
