Airport Air Service Consultant

Purpose:
 

Under general direction, this position is responsible for building, managing, and maintaining basic-to-advanced industry and market intelligence data used as the foundation of the air service development program at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and the Department of Aviation (DOA). This position is responsible for concurrent analytical projects and for coordinating and implementing the overall approach and strategy to airline and air service recruitment.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates aviation industry and Local, State, and regional market intelligence and works with the business and tourism community to define, analyze, and report meaningful insights to build the air service development program.
  2. Conducts analyses, reports statistical trends and variances, and tracks KPIs and City of Austin air service metrics.
  3. Identifies and tracks business relationships and new developments in the region and analyzes resulting potential for additional air service between AUS and other cities. Recommend new flight routes based on metric analysis.
  4. Uses aviation-industry business intelligence (BI) technology such as subscription airline schedule and revenue and profitability analysis databases to design, develop, and review analytical solutions, performance reports and dashboards, and data visualizations.
  5. Locates and refines data and statistics on catchment area economics, corporate growth, passenger demographics and airline industry. Interprets information from specialized industry databases such as ARC passenger origins, mobility’s, Federal BTS and DOT statistics, T-100, O&D Survey (DB1B), and other BI sources.
  6. Packages information into meaningful reports (such as PDEW, ASM, PRASM analysis), comprehensive market summaries and presentation materials for internal use and public release, including for advisory committees. Develops seat capacity, load factor, and leakage reports. Develops trend analysis using historical O&D reports. Informs new data sources including cell phone data, and more emerging technologies.
  7. Develops and oversees business travel research provider/data contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance, eg: Cirium/DIIO.
  8. Researches, interprets, and reports on pertinent FAA air service policy and regulations, as well as IATA international flight restrictions and regulations. Tracks the financial health of individual airlines, prepares analytical reports on changes in airline business models, projecting the effect on AUS revenue and operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning Management, or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience, including two (2) years of experience which were supervisory.
  • Any combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications.
