Airport Trade Technician II

Purpose:
 

Under general supervision, perform routine building and equipment maintenance tasks in repair, installation, maintenance, and construction for electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electromechanical systems in all AUS facilities.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs and maintenance. Performs minor repairs to buildings and equipment.
  2. Assists trade crews in the completion of assigned work orders, including materials ready, performs preventative maintenance inspections, repairs, and new equipment installation activities.
  3. Assists with performing system diagnostics, calibrations, troubleshooting and repairs.
  4. Operates various hand and power tools to include drills, grinders, sanders, power saws, sewer machines, pro-press, shop vacuums, water jetters, etc.
  5. Performs semi-skilled carpentry work in the construction/repair of walls, ceilings, flooring, etc.
  6. Repairs and replaces electric plugs, switches, ballast, lamps, fixtures, and cords.
  7. Repairs and installs door hardware/closures, kick plates, handles, locks, and crash bars.
  8. Performs simple plumbing installations and repairs such as install or repair faucets, unclogs drains, replaces valves, commodes, urinals soap and towel dispensers.
  9. Performs basic service on pumps, air handlers, cooling towers; repack bearing, change oil and filters, lubricate motors, gear boxes and pumps.
  10. Assists in repairing system equipment and components using ariel man lifts.
  11. Performs operations and maintenance tasks including confined space entry and works in hazardous environments.
  12. Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests and records the information in the Asset Management System (AMS).
  13. Reads profiles/blueprints.
  14. Performs maintenance and inspections on fire extinguishers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of proper safety practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the equipment, methods and materials used in equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Knowledge of proper methods and procedures used in cleaning work area and equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment, methods, and materials used in moderate levels of maintenance, construction, i.e. equipment maintenance, building walls, hanging doors and windows.
  • Knowledge of tools and materials used in equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Knowledge of city practice, policy and procedures.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in using computers and related software.
  • Skill in problem solving.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Ability to operate power tools.
  • Ability to read and understand simple blueprints.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years of facility maintenance, equipment maintenance, custodial or construction work. Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
 

State of Texas Class "C" Driver’s License.
