Purpose: |

Under supervision and using working knowledge, research, coordinate, and deliver wildfire mitigation education and safety programs. Responsible for projects which are limited scope and complexity. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Participates in joint efforts in wildfire education and training with internal and external city department partners.
- Assists with developing and implementing National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) and wildfire related training classes.
- Assists with managing training records.
- Maintains and repairs wildland hand tools and small engines, including chainsaws and portable pumps.
- Manages logistical needs for wildland fleet, equipment, and training events.
- Assists with coordination, development and delivery of wildfire education programs and training to support Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP).
- Assists with development of wildland fire prevention strategies based on documented fire causes.
- Assists in delivery of online wildfire safety and evacuation plans and communication strategies for communities.
- Assists with mitigation training and wildfire prevention, including prescribed burns.

- Knowledge of applicable wildfire mitigation processes, techniques, and methods.
- Knowledge of elements of the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy
- Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
- Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- Skill in using computers and related software applications.
- Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
- Skill in both written and verbal communications.
- Skill driving and backing a trailer.
- Skill in delivering presentations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with City employees and the public.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field.
- One (1) additional year of related experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.

Licenses and Certifications Required: |

Valid State of Texas Class “C” Driver License
