Purpose:
  Under direction, plans, directs and coordinates the construction, operation and maintenance of municipal park and recreation facilities; performs related duties as required.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1.Administers municipal policies and regulations pertaining to parks and recreation.
2.Predicts trends in the needs for recreation facilities and plans for the establishment of the facilities.
3.Prepares operational budgets and predicts income and outlays
4.Attends meetings and conferences to describe recreation activities and to communicate needs.
5.Prepares reports and memoranda on departmental activities.
6.Develops long-range departmental plans and objectives for the recreation and parks system.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
  Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of park and recreation administration.
Knowledge of development, maintenance and construction of recreation facilities
Knowledge of modern management and personnel principles and practices.
Skill in developing, implementing and evaluation various recreational activities and programs.
Skill in selecting, developing and evaluating staff to accomplish departmental objectives
Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other City employees, citizen groups and the general public.
Minimum Qualifications:
  Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Parks Administration and an advanced degree in Recreation and resources Development, Public Administration or related areas plus eight years of upper level management experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
