Facility HVAC Technician

Purpose:
  Under general direction, provide specialized technical assistance and support in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of building operational systems.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1.Perform major repairs, maintain, to include overhauls on centrifugal HVAC equipment.
2.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems related to building systems including HVAC, plumbing, generator and fire protection systems.
3.Provide specialized HVAC support of data center chiller systems; calibrate thermostats, and inspect HVAC systems and recommend changes as needed.
4.Assists the Fire Department in conducting performance test of fire protection systems including, fire alarm, sprinkler, and fire pump systems. Assists the Fire Department in conducting quarterly and periodic fire inspections of building systems and building contents.
5.Perform routine plumbing repairs and minor electrical maintenance repairs as needed
6.Coordinate work related activities with contractors and other City Departments.
7.Develop and maintain building key systems and the building security access card system.
8.Performs construction and reconstruction of modular furniture.
9.Performs construction remodeling to include wall demo, new wall construction, and painting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of HVAC equipment.
Knowledge of equipment and methods used in regulating and measuring pressures, temperatures and factors related to heating and cooling equipment.
Knowledge of regulations and codes concerning heating and refrigeration systems.
Skill in troubleshooting a variety of building operational systems.
Skill in reading and understanding blueprints and schematic drawings.
Skill in operating hand drills, welding and soldering equipment.
Skill in conducting routine inspections for the purpose of determining conformity to plans and specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years experience in repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning or refrigeration systems, and one (1) year of experience in general building operation maintenance including routine painting, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, and modular workstation construction.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's license.
ASHRAE certification as required by the State of Texas/EPA.
