Multimedia Development Manager

Purpose:
 

Under general direction of the Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs (TARA) Officer, this position coordinates the City of Austin's participation in the development and implementation of a multimedia incubator in Austin.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Coordinates with area businesses, governmental entities, and educational institutions to develop and implement a multimedia incubator in Austin.
  2. Maintains a multimedia development website to keep the public informed of Austin's multimedia efforts.
  3. Stays informed about legislative activities and industry trends affecting multimedia development.
  4. Coordinates with other City departments to facilitate Workforce Development and Telecommunity projects.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of marketing.
  • Knowledge of word processing, database usage, internet-based communications and software, and general computer applications.
  • Knowledge of multimedia.
  • Knowledge of financing options.
  • Knowledge of workforce and economic development.
  • Knowledge of local organizations, commissions, and other public and private entities involved with multimedia and workforce development.
  • Skill in verbal and written communications.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration, Government, Economics, Marketing, Information Systems, or a media-related field, plus five (5) years of experience in coordinating/managing large-scale projects related to economic development and/or technology. Experience working with diverse groups, both public and private, required.
