Purpose: |

Administer and coordinate the Music in Public Places Program. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Provide high quality and diverse music programming for target audience at City of Austin facilities, events and other related venues
- Communicating details of promotions, entertainment, and marketing events to all city departments, local businesses and corporate sponsors.
- Schedules music to be programmed on air and live performances; considers listeners requests and flow of music.
- Serves as resource on musical issues such as assisting staff in locating appropriate music to be used in public affairs.
- Responds to listeners' letters and telephone calls regarding complaints and requests for information pertaining to musical selections.
- Classifies and catalogs all recordings and maintains computerized music library.
- Participates in budget preparation by anticipating costs of new musical purchases; participates in development of long range programming objectives.
- Participates in fund raising and special event activities.
- Maintain the scheduling of performances and process payments.
- Developing and maintaining local and corporate sponsorships to pay for musical performances.
- Setup various equipment such as stage microphones, maintain sound board, and other technical equipment related to live performances.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |
|
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of music history and formats, composers, compositions, performers, performances and interpretations.
- Knowledge of radio production and recording procedures and techniques.
- Knowledge of broadcast rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to effectively communicate

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Broadcasting, Communications or Marketing and two years related experience in musical selection;
- One (1) additional year of relevant work experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four (4) years.
