Purpose:
 

Under general supervision, prepares work orders and maintains records for repairs/maintenance/service of vehicles and/or equipment.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1. Obtains information and determines need for and/or cost of vehicle and/or equipment repair through user interviews and equipment testing/inspection.
2. Transports and secures vehicles and/or equipment for repair/maintenance/service.
3. Generates and submits itemized work orders including basic diagnosis of problem and estimate of labor hours for repair/maintenance/service.
4. Issues small parts, equipment, and accessories related to service and repair of vehicles and/or equipment.
5. Assists with tracking inventory of small parts, equipment, and accessories via asset management databases and other essential business applications.
6. Communicates with user department and service center personnel regarding status of work.
7. Coordinates and schedules repair/maintenance/service with other departments.
8. Produces down-time reports, productivity reports, repair and/or maintenance history reports, and other reports as needed.
9. Maintains vehicle and/or equipment repair/maintenance/service history files and records.
10. Prepares documents for supervisor's/manager's reports and records data for budget monitoring and preparation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

• Knowledge of quality control methods, job standards, processing of work orders, pricing, labor hours, and equipment and materials.
• Knowledge of the mechanical and/or technical nature of the services provided and/or systems supported by the department or division. 
• Skill in oral and written communications.
• Ability to interact with tact and courtesy and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Ability to understand and follow work-related directions or instructions.
• Ability to operate a computer, including knowledge of databases, email, and other applications essential to the business.

Minimum Qualifications:
 

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent certificate, with two (2) years of experience related to the job.
• Related experience may substitute for required education up to four (4) years
• Related education may substitute for required experience up to two (2) years

Licenses and Certifications Required:
 

• Requires a Class C driver's license.
• If required must obtain an appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 90 days of employment with the City
