Disaster Recovery Coordinator

Purpose:
  Develop, coordinate and test plans for business continuity for data systems, networking, voice systems, server systems, applications and other forms of IT infrastructure.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Develops plans to continue information systems functions at alternate locations if an event interrupting normal computer operations occurs over an extended period of time.
  2. Consults with management and other personnel regarding needs for data, computers, communications equipment, personnel requirements, processing schedules, and regulatory and legal responsibilities.
  3. Evaluates requirements and arranges with off-site facilities for data archiving, storage and access.
  4. Locates, inspects and contracts for off-site facilities and equipment for resuming computer operations in the event of a disaster.
  5. Consults with departments to identify key personnel and contacts.
  6. Establishes notification processes for communicating in an emergency situation.
  7. Develops, documents and communicates disaster recovery procedures throughout the organization.
  8. Implements and coordinates tests of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  9. Coordinates development and implementation of disaster recovery operations with external service providers.
  10. Manages the implementation of disaster recovery plans in the event of a disaster or emergency that interrupts normal information system operations.
  11. Manages Disaster Recovery projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of networks, server systems, voice systems and applications
  • Knowledge of storage management.
  • Skill in developing documentation, including written procedures.
  • Ability to produce detailed plans.
  • Ability to manage Disaster Recovery projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years related experience.
  • Any combination of related Education and Experience may be substituted
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
