Distribution Construction Maintenance Superintendent

Purpose:
 

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for managing the construction of the electric utility distribution system which includes overhead, underground and streetlight illumination facilities.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Manages schedules, budget, and project performance for large construction projects.
  2. Re-conducts existing lines for reliability or new load requirements.
  3. Relocates facilities for road-widening projects.
  4. Installs tie lines and new circuits for load growth/reliability.
  5. Conducts three-phase conversions.
  6. Residential/commercial single phase and three-phase projects.
  7. Restores system due to weather, equipment malfunction, or damage.
  8. Ensures that all plans and work are consistent with appropriate codes and regulations.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in handling hostile conflicts and uncertain situations.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to quickly recognize and analyze irregular events.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus eight (8) years of experience in a field related to the job, including two (2) years of experience which were in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

  None.
