Nuclear & Coal Fuels Support Specialist

Purpose:
  Under general direction, coordinates the management, operational, and support activities for the South Texas Project and the Fayette Power Project, representing the City of Austin's interests in these projects as a participating
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Communicates project an/or program information to internal and external customers
  2. Assists in the development and monitoring of project and/or program budgets. Assists in the development of short/long range project related plans. Assists in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures
  3. Develops or assists in the development of analyses working closely with AE and project staff. Coordinates AE's project related activities Assists in conflict resolution involving the projects various partners and operating staff. Represents the City of Austin's interests at project meetings, etc. as needed
  4. Monitors and evaluates compliance with City and other regulatory agency requirements and policies. Evaluates operating programs, capital projects, and regulatory alternatives through application of appropriate models in order to recommend funding or regulatory changes
  5. Coordinates/reviews project related contracts and contract documents. Coordinates and evaluates plans, criteria, schedules, etc. for a variety of projects related programs and plans Coordinates and performs review of project related programs and activities
  6. Monitors and reports contract changes orders and estimates, as required, to AE management. Meets with project engineers, consultants, and contractors to discuss designs.

  • Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
  • Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, Local laws, and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of city practice, policy, and procedure.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to quickly recognize and analyze irregular events.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, engineering, or in a field related to the job, three (3) years experience in a field related to the job.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
