Develop, implement and coordinate Department Employee Health/Safety programs. Coordinate Department FMLA/ADA/Leave of Absence compliance and notification activities in compliance with City of Austin Personnel Policies and Federal Law. Coordinate City Wellness programs and activities for the Department |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Develop, update and distribute policies and procedures related to blood exposure, infection control, employee immunization, ergonomics and wellness programs.
- Provide or arrange for employee immunizations according to the Department's Employee Immunization policy.
- Cover employee blood exposures during working hours.
- Give rabies pre-exposure immunizations at the Animal Shelter.
- Create and maintain confidential employee health records
- Coordinate quarterly infection control assessments through the Local Infection Control Officers (LICO's) within the Department.
- Maintain the "Respond" Employee Health software program.
- Coordinate Department FMLA/ADA/Leave of Absence requests activities.
- Coordinate and process "non-work related" illness/injury return to work activities.
- Provide case management activities as needed.
- Provide assistance in case management for Workers' Compensation cases.
- Serve as back up for Safety Officer and Workers' Compensation Representative.
- Provide monthly Blood Borne Pathogen/Exposure Control Plan and other Safety and Health training as necessary.
- Serves as Department Safety Liaison
- Serve as the Wellness Liaison for the City's HealthPlus Wellness program for employees. Participate; serve as chairman and working representative of the Department Infection Control Committee. Serve as Department ADA Coordinator and provide annual report to City ADA Coordinator.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health Nursing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and in written communications to all levels of employees, including upper management.
- Ability to confidently use Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize activities and handle multiple projects at the same time.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing plus three (3) years of experience in a field related to Occupational Health Nursing.
|
Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
- Must be licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.
- Must have current healthcare provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card and will be required to maintain a current certification during employment.
