Park Development Coordinator

Purpose:
  Under general direction, manage the design and implementation program for capital improvements for the City's parks, recreation areas, and green spaces
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Develop capital improvements implementation plan and maintain construction schedule. Assign park design duties and monitor task completion.
  2. Evaluate work of landscape architects.
  3. Coordinate park improvement activities with other divisions, departments and outside contractors.
  4. Develop project cost estimates, status reports and financial statements.
  5. Produce park master plans, schematic design development plans and construction details.
  6. Affix seal of Registered Landscape Architect to approve park development plans.
  7. Draft and evaluate agreement proposals for parks and open spaces.
  8. Organize design meetings with staff and community.
  9. Provide information and reports to City management, boards and commissions, and citizens.
  10. Represent section at staff and public meetings.
  11. Serve on committees and task forces.
  12. Assist in development and execution of sectional budget.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of capital improvements programs.
  • Knowledge of design and construction project management.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy, goals, and needs of landscape architecture.
  • Knowledge of land planning, irrigation, and horticulture.
  • Knowledge of land surveying.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, and municipal organization and processes.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Skill in planning, organizing and implementing capital improvements from design through construction phases.
  • Skill in prioritizing tasks, delegating assignments and monitoring work products.
  • Skill in establishing and implementing group goals.
  • Skill interpreting written documents such as contracts, budget reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Skill in preparing clear written reports and public presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Landscape Architecture plus five (5) years of landscape architecture experience, two (2) years of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Master's degree in Landscape Architecture may substitute for two (2) years of the required landscape architecture experience.
