Supply Chain Manager

Purpose:
  Under nominal direction, plans, directs and manages the activities and personnel engaged in supply chain and materials management for Austin Energy.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Develops and implements strategies to manage Austin Energy's supply chain requirements
  2. Assures timely distribution of materials to support customer service, construction, and maintenance programs
  3. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls Austin Energy materials planning, reclamation and warehousing activities
  4. Develops and monitors the unit's O & M and capital budgets
  5. Develops strategies to manage the overall procurement and use of materials or services
  6. Maintains a delivery system that includes best practices for actual usage, measurements and all supporting processes and transactions
  7. Develops, Reviews or presents cost-benefit analysis of purchased materials and services
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of materials management techniques, e.g. MRP, MRPII, EDI
  • Knowledge of leadership, managerial and supervisory techniques and principles
  • Knowledge of budgeting methods and systems
  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques
  • Knowledge of general business and management processes
  • Knowledge of contracts and contract terms
  • Knowledge of the concepts for review and evaluation of internal control systems
  • Skill in oral and written communications
  • Skill in conflict resolution
  • Skill in using computers and materials management related software applications
  • Skill in developing and applying performance measures
  • Ability to lead, manage and train a multi-disciplinary workforce
  • Ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks
  • Ability to prioritize based on changing business needs
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years experience in materials management, two (2) years of which were in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
