Volunteer Services Coordinator

Purpose:
  Under general supervision, organize and manage programs in volunteer services.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Conduct needs assessment study.
  2. Develop and conduct on-going in-service training programs.
  3. Coordinate division's training of personnel.
  4. Recruit/interview/select volunteers.
  5. Supervise/coordinate volunteer activities.
  6. Write news/periodical articles.
  7. Prepare/write statistical Reports.
  8. Conduct orientation session for new employees.
  9. Schedule/record reservations for meeting rooms/space.
  10. Compile data/information for reports, cost estimates, etc.
  11. Prepares work schedule.
  12. Train personnel in performance of job tasks.
  13. Deliver speeches to civic and community groups.
  14. Perform other tasks as required
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of community organizations.
  • Skill in dealing with the general public.
  • Skill in maintaining and establishing effective working relationships with other City employees and the public.
  • Ability to recruit, screen and assign volunteers to appropriate tasks or projects
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years of experience related to the job.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
