WIC Supervisor

Purpose:
  Under general direction lead and perform tasks in WIC Program sites supervises WIC team and provides client services
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Supervise assigned WIC team.
  2. Monitor compliance with WIC policies and procedures.
  3. Evaluate job performance.
  4. Develop and provide staff in service training.
  5. Counsels high risk clients on nutritional needs.
  6. Determines eligibility for WIC Program.
  7. Prescribes supplemental foods and special formulas.
  8. Delivers individual and group nutrition education.
  9. Develop work schedules.
  10. Interpret federal state and local guidelines.
  11. Perform other tasks as required.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of principles and practice of nutrition.
  • Knowledge of public health programs and client needs.
  • Knowledge of management techniques.
  • Ability to apply interpretations of federal state and local regulations.
  • Ability to examine and evaluate need for nutrition programs.
  • Ability to listen and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective supervisory relationship with employees
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  •  Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Food and Nutrition or Dietetics, plus three (3) years of experience in a field related to Nutrition or Dietetics one (1) year of which were in a lead or supervisory capacity
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
