Purpose: |

Responsible for engineering planning, design, development and implementation of radio frequency wireless communication systems. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Provides engineering services for the design, construction, installation, testing, operation and maintenance of wireless communication technology. This includes: UHF/VHF radio, trunk radio, analog and digital microwave, Point to Multi-Point, Spread Spectrum, cellular, digital pager and wireless infrastructure.
- Performs complete radio system engineering calculations for radio system design, including path analysis, propagation studies and inter-modulation analysis.
- Develops communication wireless design documents and plans. Develops and implements technology architecture standards, specifications, procedures, and criteria for design, operations and administration of wireless communication systems
- Performs capacity planning studies for wireless communication systems.
- Develops emergency response plans for wireless communication systems operations.
- Monitors project and wireless communication systems for regulatory licensing and operational compliance.
- Prepares and submits FCC license application and perform frequency coordination.
- Develops and maintains documentation of wireless communication systems. Prepares and evaluates Request for Proposal s (RFP).
- Researches communication network systems technologies and monitor related legislation.

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, practices and methodology
- Knowledge of wireless communication technologies
- Knowledge of fiber optic systems and technologies
- Knowledge of real time monitor, control and protection communication
- Knowledge of FCC and FAA regulations
- Skills in troubleshooting wireless communications systems
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage and complete projects within the required time frame and within budget using project tracking software
- Ability to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all public dealings

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Engineering or in a field related to the job, eight years related experience.
- Masters degree may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
