Purpose: | |||
Under general direction documents, evaluates, analyzes, and preserves, custody of friction ridge evidence | |||
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: | |||
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. 1. Receives, evaluates, and maintains custody of latent fingerprints. 2. Utilizes various comparison techniques 3. Conducts computer database searches 4. Utilizes methods and equipment for the enhancement of latent print evidence 5. Writes, drafts, and completes supplemental reports and provides documentation of analysis 6. Updates and modifies information in the databases 7. Transports evidence and/or property to storage location and/or criminal court 8. Assists other law enforcement agencies in comparative analysis 9. Provides information to investigative units on the status of latent print evidence 10. Testifies as an expert witness |

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: | |||
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Knowledge of latent print practice and procedure Knowledge of crime scene policy and procedure Skill in oral and written communication Skill in using computers and related software applications Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public. |

Minimum Qualifications: | |||
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job. Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years. |
