Meter Services Supervisor

Purpose:
  Under close supervision, perform apprentice level tasks to assist in installation and maintenance of electrical service.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Checks equipment for proper operation, safety, and/or needed maintenance.
  2. Routes information & materials to appropriate personnel.
  3. Records data on appropriate form/log, etc.
  4. Reviews work for accuracy & completeness.
  5. Prioritizes projects and work activities.
  6. Writes informational reports.
  7. Investigates consumer/citizen complaint to determine validity.
  8. Resolves work-related problems for subordinates.
  9. Answers citizen questions & provide assistance.
  10. Develops & revise operating procedures.
  11. Enforces safety rules.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge comprehensive of meter service.
  • Knowledge of streets and highways in Austin/Travis county area.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
  • Skill in effective oral and/or written communication.
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Skill in accurately reading instruments and/or meters.
  • Skill in the level of dexterity required in the inspection of meters.
  • Skill in coordinating the work of others.
  • Skill in inspecting meters for possible tampering and crossed meters.
  • Skill in on-the-job training methods.
  • Skill in input/output of data on the CRT system.
  • Skill in prioritizing tasks and/or work assignments.
  • Skill in investigating techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five years experience in a field related to meter services.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
 
  • Valid Texas Class C Drivers License
