Public Health Youth Program Specialist

Purpose:
  Under general supervision, lead, mentor, and guide youth in adapting to a professional work environment.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Lead and monitor work performed by youth work crews.
  2. Insure youth crews perform work in accordance with all safety rules.
  3. Provide training and document actions taken for youth work crews.
  4. Drive vehicles and insure all vehicles have safety/emergency supplies as required.
  5. Mentor, guide, and counsel youth in adapting to a professional work environment.
  6. Compile data/information for reports.
  7. Research information as requested and/or needed.
  8. Write informational reports.
  9. Answer citizen questions and provide assistance
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn grounds keeping processes, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of equipment and vehicles used in grounds services.
  • Skill in directing and assigning work to others.
  • Oral and written communication skills necessary for providing instruction and feedback.
  • Ability to mentor, train and guide youth.
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four years
Licenses and Certifications Required:
 
  • Valid Texas Class C Drivers License.
