Security Coordinator

Purpose:
 
Under the general direction of the Security Manager, plan, manage, and coordinate the security related activities associated with the Security Office. Oversee the security programs and activities to safeguard department assets, employees and guests.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Coordinates security operations ensuring that security procedures are implemented and follows per the organizations Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  2. Oversee the operations of the Security Operation Center and coordinate all emergency/crisis management operations providing a timely response to incidents as needed. 
  3. Provides operation support and management services for the Security Officer Contract to include contract compliance and oversight of personnel selection, training, and scheduling.
  4. Evaluates internal and contracted security operations to maximize service effectiveness.
  5. Monitors and trains staff in job tasks and responsibilities to ensure effective performance.
  6. Respond to emergency situations, conduct follow-up investigations and file reports on security related incidents.
  7. Reviews staff's documentation and communicate information to Division Manager as needed.
  8. Performs as a liaison for internal customers to provide assessments and program implementation for site security services to meet business needs.
  9. Develops activity reports and logs, tracking unit statistics and trends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of electronic security systems, CCTV, and mechanical doors lock systems
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, Local laws, and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of city practice, policy, and procedure.
  • Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
  • Skill in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting applicable data.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions/changes in priorities.
  • Ability to quickly recognize and analyze irregular events.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with personnel, city, county, and state personnel, and the public.


Minimum Qualifications:
 
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years experience providing security related services in a Security Operations Center environment, two (2) of which were in a lead capacity.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
 
Valid Texas Class C Drivers License
