Neighborhood Development Program Coordinator

Purpose:
  Develop and implement a variety of outreach and educational programs, projects, and activities for the Eastside Story Program.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Collaborate with other organizations to plan, develop, and improve Eastside Story programs and activities. 
  2. Coordinate with organizations to address community economic or social services needs.
  3. Conduct needs assessments and meet with program participants, community residents, leaders, and groups to identify needs and available resources.
  4. Develop short and long-term plans and research funding sources.
  5. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
  6. Serve as liaison with targeted schools in the eastside area.
  7. Assist with registration of children/families for the Eastside Story After school Program.
  8. Plan and arrange logistics and route vehicles for daily pick-up of program participants.
  9. Recruit organizations, businesses, and individuals to donate goods and/or services
  10. Attend meetings of community related services.
  11. Compile informational reports, create and maintain databases, and coordinate archival of records.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 
  • Provide general supervision of volunteers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.  
Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods.
Knowledge of city practice, policy, and procedures.
Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in using computers and related software applications.
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to train others. 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Social Work, Planning, or in a field related to the job, plus two (2) years of experience in the administration of a program relevant to assignment.
  • Experience or education may be substituted up to a maximum of four (4) years
Licenses and Certifications Required:
 
  • Valid Texas Class C Drivers License.
