Purpose: |

Under general direction, supervise the activities and operations of Austin Public Library security personnel in creating a safe and pleasant environment for all patrons. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates and manages presence and activities of scheduled security personnel at locations, to include yards, parking lots/garages, and other surrounding areas.
- Secures security contracts through the City’s bidding process to secure additional security staff for events.
- Provides direction and training to security personnel, contract employees, and other City departments regarding Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and other training areas.
- Reviews site documentation, activity, and incident reports for the department.
- Issue, manages, and enforces Criminal Trespass Notices (CTN) in close collaboration with Austin Police Department (APD).
- Acts as a steward of the location and anticipates and solves problems for patrons, educating rule violators on library safety rules and regulations.
- Monitors welfare of security personnel working after-hours and at remote assignments. Coordinate, transport and safeguard cash pick up and drop offs at all locations.
- Responds to after-hour emergency situations, incidents, and alarm notifications as necessary. Meets and provides law enforcement agencies and first responders access to secured and/or energized areas as needed.
- Provides periodic reports to management regarding site activities, irregularities, and identifies needed action.
- Works outside scheduled hours to ensure appropriate shift coverage, attend trainings, meetings, and/or other activities, as needed, to meet the business needs of the organization and the workgroup.
- Assume on-call duty as assigned, responding to security needs and reporting to duty as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years experience, employed in a security related position, two (2) years, which were in a lead or supervisor capacity.

Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
- May require a valid Texas Driver License.
|
