Purpose: |

Responsible for the operation and/or leading in the operation of equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and/or operation of electric transmission and distribution systems. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Installs or removes conductors from energized or de-energized poles/towers.
- Performs safety inspections on assigned equipment. Performs safety inspections of work sites.
- Hooks-up and/or loads flatbed trailer.
- Operates boom truck, trencher/auger, 15-ton crane, aerial crane, and tractor/trailer rig. Operates backhoe. Maintains and operates cable tensioning/pulling equipment.
- Digs, sets, or tamps utility poles.
- Reads and interprets profiles, blueprints, maps, or other written instructions for completion of assigned work.
- Maintains inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |
|
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, procedures, methods, and materials used in complex construction, maintenance, and operation of electric systems
- Knowledge of basic electricity
- Knowledge of safety hazards inherent in working in close proximity to energized high and low voltage lines and equipment
- Knowledge of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code as it relates to the operation of heavy equipment
- Skill in reading and understanding simple blueprints, maps and diagrams
- Skill in using equipment, tools, procedures, methods, and materials used in complex construction, maintenance, and operation of electric systems
- Ability to operate equipment requiring a Class A, Texas Commercial Drivers License

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four years experience in a field related to the job.
- Experience may substitute for education up to two (2) years
|
Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
• Valid Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License or ability to acquire license and/or endorsements within 90 days of employment. • Ability to produce and maintain an acceptable driving record.
