Purpose: |

Under general supervision, perform activities related to operating turbo-electric generators and other equipment in a steam electric generating plant. |
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: |
|
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates division/section activities with other divisions/sections.
- Troubleshoots problems in equipment in assigned area.
- Operates air infiltration equipment, various detectors, pressure gauges, etc.
- Answers telephone, routing calls as appropriate.
- Provides input into employee performance evaluations.
- Adjusts feeders to insure proper levels of chemicals are maintained.
- Starts-up/shuts-down diesel generator units.
- Operates boiler &/or auxiliary equipment. Operates turbine and/or auxiliary equipment.
- Monitors instrumentation control panels

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: |
|
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of operating procedures for steam turbo-electric generators and high pressure steam boilers and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Knowledge of boiler feedwater chemical treatment and control.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
- Skills in operating power plant equipment and plant systems sufficient to integrate overall plant operations.
- Skill in referencing/interpreting manual sufficient to perform job tasks.

Minimum Qualifications: |
|
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
|
Licenses and Certifications Required: |
|
None.
|
Physical Requirements: |
|
Light. Tasks performed with lightweight materials or using a force equal to lifting up to twenty pounds. |
