Under minimal direction, documents, evaluates, analyzes, preserves, custody of friction ridge evidence |

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: | |||
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. 1. Coordinates proficiency testing 2. Develops and oversees quality assurance initiatives ensuring that policies are in line with accrediting entities 3. Provides courtroom evaluations of section employees 4. Receives, evaluates, and maintains custody of latent finger prints 5. Utilizes various comparison techniques 6. Conducts computer database searches 7. Utilizes special methods and equipment for the enhancement of latent print evidence 8. Writes, drafts, and completes supplemental reports and provides documentation of analysis 9. Transports evidence and/or property to storage location and/or criminal court 10. Assists other law enforcement agencies in comparative analysis of latent prints 11. Provides information to investigative units on the status of latent print evidence. 10. Testifies as an expert witness in court |

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: | |||
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Knowledge of accrediting criteria as prescribed by the appropriate accrediting entities Knowledge of crime scene policy and procedure Skill in oral and written communication Skill in the analysis of latent print examination Skill in latent print practice and procedure Skill in using computers and related software applications Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing Skill in handling conflict and uncertain situations Skill in data analysis and problem solving Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public

Minimum Qualifications: | |||
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus three (3) years experience in the science and casework of latent print examinations and comparisons qualifying and testifying as an expert witness two (2) of which were approved proficiency testing
Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years |

International Association for Identification Latent Print Certification Valid Driver’s License |
