Purpose:
 

The general purpose of the position is to forecast, plan, organize, and control the presentation and accessibility of online Library services, programs, information, and content via the Austin Public Library website. The position will be responsible for coordinating with Library divisions and City of Austin departments to oversee the delivery of our end product: the Austin Public Library website. The position will manage multiple projects integrating project deliverables to bring clarity, ease of use, and focused accessible results to our online delivery/presentation of Library services, programs, information, and content.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Develops and maintains strategic and operational plans for Austin Public Library online information, content, websites, library services, and programs.
  2. Develops, prioritizes, maintains, and directs web-related project plans and schedules.
  3. Develops, writes, and manages project plans including scope and impacts.
  4. Defines, analyzes, documents, and monitors requirements for data/content, workflow, and logical processes.
  5. Conducts research into emerging best practices in the use of technology for content delivery and accessibility primarily related to Libraries, websites, and the Library Catalog.
  6. Assists in design and implementation of business functions and customer interfaces through automation.
  7. Ensures that content is consistently useful, up-to-date, accurate, and of interest to the online Library customer.
  8. Translates Library customer needs into designs for customer interfaces that can be automated and programmatically implemented over the web.
  9. Integrates historical Library measures with website traffic and usage data and monitors, analyzes, and reports website traffic and usage data.
  10. Ensures Library special collections are integrated smoothly into online delivery models.
  11. Provides management with planning and control information by assembling and analyzing data; identifying trends; providing forecasts; explaining processes and techniques.
  12. Coordinates project activities with divisional and cross-departmental activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation from an American Libraries Association accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science, plus three (3) years of related experience.
