Green Building and Sustainability Associate

Purpose:
  Under general supervision, responsible for program support and customer assistance in the day-to-day activities associated with Austin Energy’s Green Building and Sustainability division initiatives.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1. Provides program support to inform, educate and promote interest in green building and sustainability initiatives to enhance the focus on conservation and life-cycle approaches to sustainable construction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and the efficient use of materials and natural resources.
2. Establishes customer tracking systems to monitor various inquiries about the program, create queries and run reports, analyze customer data, and quality assurance of program information. 
3. Serves as an information portal to both lay and professionals who participate in the green building and sustainability programs’ activities and initiatives.
4. Assists staff in fostering on-going relationships with all stakeholders to facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of green building and sustainability processes and procedures and building energy codes, by scheduling meetings, and serving to connect the more technical staff to the customer.
5. Provides support to staff in the development of key program tools and documents, ensuring the content, context, diagrams and data are clear, accurate, updated, and accessible to our customers.
6. Assists applicants and various green building and sustainability related groups with the coordination of shared resources, and serves as pivotal networking resource for various entities at all levels of government and in the private sector. 
7. Works closely with staff to solicit new program customers who desire to understand and engage in green building and sustainability by representing Austin Energy in meetings, workshops, conferences and events.
8. Establishes and maintains accurate records and filing systems by creating and/or maintaining electronic files and documents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of green building and sustainability construction technologies, methods and practices.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Knowledge of construction materials, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of customer service operations, techniques, and processes
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in using computers and related software applications.
Skill in data analysis and problem solving.
Ability to learn various aspects of the electric utility industry and business operations
Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
  Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus one (1) year of experience related to construction, energy efficiency, or green building.
Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  None.
