Wireless Installation Center Supervisor

Purpose:
 

Under the direction of management, this position supervises the work activities and assignments of installers who perform installation and configurations of communication and emergency devices on vehicles and other motorized equipment.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  1. Prioritizes vehicles and other motorized equipment installation configurations and repairs.
  2. Assigns, monitors, and directs all installation and maintenance staff. Monitors APD or other agency “vehicle down” report and coordinates after-hour support as needed.
  3. Approves and follows up on parts order and evaluates quality of product.
  4. Assists with diagnosis of vehicles and ensures that installations and repairs are correctly completed.
  5. Provides information on status of vehicle, responds to complaints, and requests for installation and repairs.
  6. Manages on-call rotation schedule for the team to support 24/7 operations of our First Responder partners (APD, EMS and Fire) for repairs of Wireless electronics devices such as lights and sirens.
  7. Interprets, complies with, and enforces City and Wireless policies and procedures.
  8. Opens, reviews, and completes work orders.
  9. Monitors employee safety practices and initiates corrective action.
  10. Assists manager with development of budget and inventory counts.
  11. Serves as back-up to facility manager.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
 

Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of Wireless operations including quality control methods, job standards, processing of work orders, pricing, labor hours, and equipment and materials.
  • Knowledge of City policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Skill in comprehending technical manuals.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to provide hands-on training to personnel.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and write clearly to document performance and disciplinary actions.
  • Ability to interact with tact and courtesy and maintain a professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
 

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years of direct work experience involving the installation and configuration of complex electronic and mechanical equipment, including two (2) years of experience which were in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
 
  • Essential duties are performed in a wireless service center environment with exposure to a variety of motorized equipment, spare parts, tools, and other materials.
  • Incumbent may be exposed to loud noises, warm and cold conditions, standing for long periods, some stooping and bending, and lifting up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
  • Individuals need to have good eye-and-hand coordination and be able to read and write in dimly lighted conditions.
Physical Requirements:
 

• Essential duties are performed in a wireless service center environment with exposure to a variety of motorized equipment, spare parts, tools, and other materials.
• Incumbent may be exposed to loud noises, warm and cold conditions, standing for long periods, some stooping and bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
• Individuals need to have good eye-and-hand coordination and read and write in dimly lighted conditions.
